John Kay

John joined the firm in 1965. He qualified as a Solicitor, with honours, in 1971 and immediately became a Partner. He was Senior Partner for over 20 years between 1985 and August 2006. On 1st September 2006 he became a full time working Commercial Consultant with the firm.

John deals with a wide range of business and commercial matters, specialising in company acquisitions and disposals. He has the experience to give common sense advice on all business matters and tax saving with discretionary trusts.

He is a Past President of the Rochdale Local Chamber Council of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

He was a member of the Rochdale Chapter of Business Network International but handed over to another member of the firm after attending 200 early morning meetings.

John is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Rochdale where he remains an active member and is a Past Member of the Institute of Directors. His home town is Littleborough. He is Vice Chairman and Treasurer of the Littleborough Canalside Development group. He is also a Director of Littleborough Marina Community Interest Company.

John is a Director of Rochdale Online Ltd and National Chairman of the Solicitors' Own Software (SOS) User Group, a market-leading provider of IT software to Solicitors firms.

He is involved with several charities. John is a founder Director/Trustee of Rochdale Connections Trust, Past Treasurer of the Rochdale Branch of NSPCC and Chairman of the NSPCC Rochdale & Oldham Business Group. He is a Trustee of the Rochdale Deaf Society.
